Are our California Senators good stewards of the Envorinment?

We have lofty renewable goals as a as State. We need to derive 33 percent of our electricity from renewable sources.

How are we going to do it?

Given that our two US Senators will block every attempt at anything being built in the dessert, stream, and ocean and otherwise we will import it.  While our esteemed Senators seem to want to protect California in my opinion they do little for Californians.

With our vast areas of dessert that produce some of the highest solar insolation in the country and rival even many in the world, California could be a giant in production of solar renewable energy. We have viable wind sites near large metropolitan areas.

This should be a mini industry of construction, engineering, maintenance, sales research and the local jobs needed to support such infrastructure. It would create jobs and clean energy right here in California for Californians.

The part of the equation that bothers me the most is the oxymoronic attitude of not only the Senators but of the many litigious California environmentalists. They demand we protect all life in California as it is a precious resource.  However they have no problem with Washington, Arizona or Nevada or even Mexico building the exact same project and importing the energy.

As long as it is not on California land it is perfectly fine.

Long live the Nimby’s

Is this really being a good steward of the environment?
