Energy Upgrade California is launching here is San Diego soon. It is a program to give rebates to SDG&E customers for energy efficient upgrades. Using the house a system approach the state of California and the local utility are teaming up to put cash back in your pocket after certain criteria and energy improvement upgrades are done to your home.
There are two paths Basic and Advanced.

Basic

Whole house air sealing :
Much of our heating and cooling and overall comfort is lost through what we call in the building science/performance contracting industry as infiltration. Infiltration is air passing through the building shell.  This infiltration can cause or contribute to health and safety issues and energy loss, controlling where we get

Attic insulation upgrade to R-38 or greater

Duct testing and sealing to BPI Standards

Hot water pipe insulation

Combustion safety (CO monitor and BPI Building Analyst testing)

100% contractor job reporting and review

On-site QA inspection

These Basic Measures will have up to a $ 1,000.00 dollar rebate

Basic Energy Upgrade can be combined with stand alone rebates for further savings. These include but are not limited to

ENERGY STAR® appliances and lighting
Appliance recycling
Wall insulation
HVAC tune-up
Variable-speed pool pumps and motors

In addition their could be up $ 1500 in Federal Energy Tax Credits could apply see your accountant for details

The Advanced path has up to $ 4000.00 in rebates. The homeowner might qualify for up to a %1500. Federal energy tax credit.

The Advanced rebate is based on performance.

•HVAC Upgrades
•DHW Upgrades
•Lighting Upgrades
•Appliance Upgrades
•Low-flow water fixtures
