Going Green
What is green?
For our definition green is a term is used to describe an ecological approach of methods and thinking and applying to everyday life.
What level of commitment is required to be green and what strategies is the subject of much debate. It is not our intention to go over all of these points neither of these points or to make any claims that we have all the answers. As the green industry evolves and grows and new research and products become available what green is can change almost daily.
How can Red E3 help you in these efforts?
We can probably agree that saving energy is an integral part of going green. Our training in energy efficiency is a synergistic partner for the green industry. We have taken our training further to be able to assist customers and advise in some of these measures.
There are many programs for new buildings and construction. LEED certifications and Build it Green have excellent systems that are quickly gain market recognition. They have a point system where by a building can be certified. These homes will be more energy efficient and more comfortable because of the efforts of the designer and builder to employ these measures.
So what about the existing home owner?
Red E3 intends to bring some of these elements to the existing home owner. With an existing home it is a different approach some of the measures for the Green Rating systems are not able to be met in the existing home market. This is because many of these measures are literally built in from the very beginning of construction. There is a rating system for existing product but it deals mainly with major remodel and renovation at this time.
So how can Red E3 help?
During our Energy Audit we will identify areas that are part the Green movements and can be added to your existing home without a major remodel. This is not sanctioned by any governing body and would not be part of any of the above mentioned providers certification process. We are hopeful that a system will be in place in the future.
