  It was said in a workshop I attended that the sun produces enough energy in one day to provide power to the entire human population for three years. It is only a matter of harnessing it. While you are overproducing energy during the day the electrical meter will spin backwards and credit your utility account. During the evening you use those credits toward your bill. The homeowner ends up with either no electric bill or a greatly reduced electric bill.

  It then get even better from there, the State of California runs a generous rebate program to offset the initial cost of systems. The Federal Government has recently reinstated a 30% after final cost tax. This accelerated depreciation is a great tool for furthering the case for PV. The Federal Tax credit is AMT exempt.
